Micaela Alberta Cayetana Moreno Menéndez was born at Jovellanos, Matanzas, on 7 August 1893. She was the daughter of Micaela Menéndez Acosta, from Guamuta, Matanzas and Laureano Moreno Amador, also from the Matanzas Province.
She married at age 14 with Manuel Porto Porto in Aguacate, Matanzas, on 11 August 1907. He was 29 years old at the time
